The Scriabin Club takes the protection of your personal data seriously. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and what rights you have under applicable data protection law, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Data controller
The Scriabin Club is currently operated as an independent initiative by:

Martin Kaptein is the data controller within the meaning of Article 4(7) GDPR.
2. What data we collect
When you sign up as a Scriabin Club Contact or otherwise get in touch with us, we may collect the following personal data:
- Name
- Email address
- Year of birth
- Self-description (professional, student, or independent enthusiast)
- Country or countries you represent (optional)
- Any information you voluntarily provide in a free-text introduction (optional)
In addition, technical data such as your IP address and the time of submission may be processed temporarily for security and abuse prevention purposes.
3. Purpose of data processing
We process your personal data exclusively for the following purposes:
- Sending invitations to public Scriabin Club meetings, lectures, concerts, and events
- Sending occasional announcements related to the Scriabin Club
- Managing and maintaining our contact list
- Responding to inquiries or contributions
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or commercial marketing.
4. Legal basis
The legal basis for processing your personal data is your explicit consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
You may withdraw your consent at any time (see section 9).
5. Data retention
Your personal data is stored only for as long as you remain a Scriabin Club Contact.
If you unsubscribe from our emails or request deletion of your data, your personal information will be deleted in a timely manner. We do not retain personal data beyond this point.
6. Access to data and data sharing
Access to your personal data is limited to the organizers of the Scriabin Club.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
Your data may be technically processed by service providers acting on our behalf as data processors, in particular:
- Hosting provider: Hetzner (Germany)
- Email provider: Mailbox.org (Germany)
These providers process data only in accordance with applicable data protection law and under appropriate safeguards.
7. Cloudflare Turnstile (spam protection)
To protect our signup forms from abuse, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a CAPTCHA-like service.
Turnstile processes technical connection data (such as IP address and browser information) solely for the purpose of distinguishing legitimate users from automated requests. It is not used for tracking, analytics, or advertising.
8. Data transfers outside the EU
All personal data is processed and stored within the European Union. We do not transfer personal data to countries outside the EU or EEA.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Request restriction of processing
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

10. Cookies and analytics
The Scriabin Club does not use tracking cookies, analytics services, or advertising technologies.
Essential technical services (such as hosting, security, and spam protection) may process limited technical data as necessary for the operation and security of the website.
11. Changes to this privacy policy
This privacy policy may be updated if our practices, legal structure, or technical setup change. The current version published on this page always applies.
